Crowning Glory: Thesis Series

Through my work, I explore the historical and cultural significance of Black hair, acknowledging the deep-rooted narratives that have shaped perceptions of beauty and self-worth. My experiences with protective styles, natural hair, and the desire for self-expression serve as a testament to the strength and creativity within Black culture. From childhood moments of bonding with my mother over hairstyles to navigating societal beauty standards and personal frustrations, my hair has been an evolving canvas of self-discovery.
